Baldur's Gate Question

Remus Lupin

Adventurer
I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I recently re-installed BG II and ToB on my computer. These programs ran fine on my computer when I was running Windows 98 and Windows ME, but now that I've got Windows XP on my system, I got odd errors during the install process and then random crashes and freezes when I play the game.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas where I can go to get it fixed?

Thanks.

Has not happened to me, but I had BG 2 on my old system, that was WIN 98. WIN XP can be screwy with games. Make sure you have service pack one for XP installed, it fixed alot of problems. Also make surre you have the latest patched for BG2- TOB. The other thing you can do with WIN XP is run BG in compatibly mode. it tricks the progrom that its running on an older version. You right click on the BG2 icon on desktop, bring up pproperties, and then compatibly mode. Hope this helps. If not, try looking in the Bioware fourms.

When I try to play Baldur's Gate II under Windows XP, the game does occasionally crash, but not often.

I've mostly been able to ignore it by saving the game every few minutes.

Well, it's a strange thing. I just got a new laptop, and I've installed all my Black Isle programs on it, and they seem to be working just fine. Hm. At least I had no problem with the installation. We'll see if they crash when I get to the relevant spots in the game.

As I recall I originally had problems installing either BG or BG II. At the time Interplay said there were issues with some brands of CD drives and the copy protection on the CDs. You might want to check the technical forums on that.

I can at least speak for BG I(spent a year+ of my life testing it) working well on NT4.0 as for BG II I am not sure.
