EN World. And serendipity, of course, but it was the D&D design I've done because of ENW that really got me the job. :D

And no, there's not much overlap except during crunch time. I wanted to make a change, and I was lucky enough to have my passion overlap with a marketable skill set.

I don't do any coding. As a designer, I write, conceive and level-build. I'm responsible for the game concept and execution - what it is, how it works, and whether it's fun. The lead designer (at least in our firm) drives the game production process, making up the game; art and programming then make it look gorgeous and work correctly. The designer (and his game design document) acts as the repository of all game knowledge, and lets folks know how it's supposed to work.
