Barbarian Rage = Duration of the Fatigue

How long does the Barbarian, after the rage ends, suffer the fatigue?

"Till the end of the encounter" is a weak answer.

So if the encounter lasts 1 round after the fatigue ends at one situation and another sitation's encounter ends 10 minutes later...the fatigue at one point lasts 6 second and then 600 seconds the other time?

A single encounter will almost never last 10 minutes. Normally a few rounds to 1 minute or two maximum. It primarily means that given a little bit of time to rest the barbarian can recover from his fatigue. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If an encounter lasts 10 minutes, well, somethings being done wrong :D

I can't think of a single instance in which an encounter lasted longer than the rage since I've been playing 3e therefore the fatigue has never been an issue.

Happens to us all the time. Even the Barbarian with the Extended Rage feat has run out a few times.

As to the duration of the fatigue, it's until the end of the encounter, which we define as dropping out of combat rounds.
