Barbrarian Speculation

Primal Striker.

Gets his powers from animal totems.

Barbarians rarely seem to be calm people. This will not be an exception
This one will have great anger

Will be more melee dependent then the other strikers, and more likely to follow them. I think this class will be able to catch up and kill their enemies

At least one fear effect, barbarians are intimidating.

Since he's so melee focussed he'll have something extra, perhaps extra attacks. Hell the Ranger got them, I'm sure the Barbarian will have something as good if not better.

Primal Defender. Low armor but more hitpoints and healing surges than the other defenders. Lots of Striker style damage powers, but while his damage output might be high barbarians will still be slightly behind.

There will be a tanking barbarian build and a smashing barbarian build when PHB 2 comes out. They will have a "Primal Challenge" ability - a minor action to mark a target and do something else (I think a basic attack with a spiffy bonus to attack and/or damage rolls). I'd wager we'll see the smashing barbarian when the preview is released, which I think will be early in Oct, no later than the 2nd week.
