Base Ability scores for Psions

Gideon

First Post
I haven't purchased the expanded psionic handbook, yet, but I have begun research into the changes to old material as well as the new material that has been included.

One of the things as I am sure you know is that psions have INT as their primary ability score. I was wondering if the authors had explained why they elimanted the tie between diciplines and ability scores?

To clarify, I am not wondering why psion manifestation was reduced to one ability score but why it was further reduced to just intelligence. Maybe that clarifies what I am trying to say. Or not.

Psions use Int, Psychic Warriors use Wisdom and Wilders use Charisma. So, they changed the "discipline" ability aspect into a class ability aspect.

As to why, I suspect it has to do with making Psions as powerful as other primary spellcasters.

Two reasons:
1) (As just stated) to balance them and make them as powerful as other spellcasters.
2) Being able to bench press 400 lbs has nothing to do with 'powers of the mind.'
