If you're claiming energy protection with DR then you're getting more bang for the buck then the rules allow.

I said my HP works against energy damage, not my DR. As in, having 181 HP at level 11 is just as good as having 100 HP and heavy armor. Since armor doesn't block most energy attacks, which tend to go against touch AC, while a high HP total is good against anything that deals damage.

Although that Barbarian archetype does get either a small amount of Fire or Cold Resistance.

Well, I think the thing is, armor was made for a reason - it works.

Someone in full plate is going to have a massive advantage against a guy in nothing.

Typically the only reason not to wear the best armor is you simply couldn't afford it.

Yes. I like the approach of armor adding to the defense of a skilled warrior rather than being the only defense. As long as better armor equals better protection above and beyond the class feature I'm ok with it.
