D&D 5E Basic hasn't been talked about much, but any news on an update with the DMG being released?

Basically topic. Since the DMG is being released today at WPN stores do you think we can expect an update to basic? Since all the juicy goods have started to trickle out of the DMG I'd love to see what would get in.

I hope for a Layout with cool Art. You could always generate more interest when it's cool looking.

There was talk of guidelines for converting old modules to 5e being posted, and some other stuff that was left out of the DMG for space reasons, but that might not come right now. We'll know when we know ...

They've noted that they realize that the pdf is different from the print book, and that art isn't so useful in the pdf version. So I would not expect to see much. Basic's layout will probably remain utilitarian.

Agree, and don't mind this one bit. Many retro clone systems that are free to download reserve the artwork for the printed versions. I like being able to to print a basic pdf without having to worry about excluding art, or worse, having to use up valuable ink printing it because there is text on the same page. Compact and functional is perfect for basic.

I LOVE the printer friendly version. It's super fast on very low end hardware, which for some of my players on a budget is awesome!

Most of them that I've seen have

• Dead tree
• a full art PDF that's charged for at half the cover price of the dead tree
• a free PDF with the art not included, but blank spots for it.

A very few add a landscape screen relayout (landscape orientation) to the full-art PDF as a bundled deal.

Most likely the material cut from the DMG won't start trickling out until January (though I wouldn't be surprised if one or two things came out in December).

As far as the Basic Rules update, I'm expecting it by the end of the year, and hoping for it sooner rather than later (since I won't have my DMG until mid-December!)
