Bastion Gen Con News

August 19th, 2004; Gen Con Game Fair: Driven by the release of new products, Bastion Press reported record opening day sales at the Gen Con Game Fair. Sales of Arms & Armor and Oathbound: Mysteries of Arena shattered sales expectations and created a frenzy around the Bastion Press booth.

"Arms & Armor v3.5 contains four times the information of our original release in 2002, bringing open content from more than 100 products into a sharp focus of weapons and magical weapon qualities, armor and magical armor qualities." stated Jim Butler, Editor-in-Chief of Bastion Press. The Special Gen Con Edition also includes a CD-ROM from Code Monkey Publishing that contains PCGen and E-Tools data sets for Arms & Armor. "It's 176 pages of essential information for any hero that wields a weapon or cloaks herself in armor."

Mysteries of Arena continues the popular Oathbound campaign setting, further illuminating the domain of Arena and the cruel interests of the Feathered Fowl known as Barbello. "The submissions by the Oathbound faithful really made this a much richer product, allowing us to add 32 pages to the book and capture even more world flavor." said Kevin Melka, Creative Director. Oathbound: Mysteries of Arena ships to distributors on August 23rd.

The Bastion Bestiary of miniatures by Magnificent Egos has also made a huge impact at the show. "The detail of these miniatures is amazing; this is some of the best sculpting work in the business." said Steve Creech, Director of Marketing.

August 20th, 2004; Gen Con Game Fair: The second day of the Gen Con Game Fair saw Bastion Press win a silver ENnie for Best d20 Rules Supplement for Torn Asunder: Critical Hits. The ENnies, an annual award to recognize excellence in gaming, are given out each year at the Gen Con Game Fair.

"Like all products in the industry, Torn Asunder: Critical Hits represents the combined efforts of a lot of people. From Steve Creech's and Kevin Ruesch's innovative design to the cover illustration of Jason Engle to the feedback of playtesters, Torn Asunder owes its success to many hands, and I'm appreciative of all of the effort involved in our recognition this evening." said Jim Butler, Editor-in-Chief of Bastion Press.

Torn Asunder expands upon critical hits by providing a quick and comprehensive system for making combat more deadly and realistic for the d20 game system. Written by Steve Creech and Kevin Ruesch, Torn Asunder: Critical Hits is available at better hobby and game stores, as well as the Bastion Press Online Store.

Critical Hits is the only product of its kind for the D20 system that I'm aware of and it is extremely well done. Congrats Steve, Kevin, and the rest of Bastion. This one is well deserved.

LMAO--No time for pants!

The show went great had a blast with the Bastion crew and looking forward to heading home Monday and regain some normalcy in my life.

Great show guys!

I stopped by the Magnificant Egos booth on Sunday and picked up the dual Bastion special they had. Now I don't know if I really need a Ceptu mind you, but it's a good deal. Looking forward to seeing more miniatures on the line. Any chance for some of the undead to hit the sculpts?

Aw, crap! Wish I would have known that when I was at the booth. I might have picked one up! I just assumed it was an update. :(

You guys need to pimp more. ;)

You obviously missed the awesome promotions that Hal and I were giving out for the entire show. Who could possibly pass up the promotion of buy three products get a hug from Hal or buy five products and you can tell me about your character, campaign setting or anything else for five minutes?
