Batman Begins teaser online

So far things look cool, and some great actors in supporting rolls. Does anyone else have a problem with the "BATSUV"? It rubs me the wrong way.

Not really. Makes more sense than the bat-formula-one the other movies had. I mean, how could that car go up a steep hill? (Maybe that's why Batman won't show up in San Francisco...). And need a grappling hook to make a sharp turn is just silly!

I like the BatSUV. Maybe the wheels could be a tad smaller, but otherwise I'm okay with it (plus it resembles a Lamborghini Contach, my favorite car while growing up).

I just hope we don't have a bat-cd-player-that-can-be-scratched-like-a-regular-vinil-turntable-to-mix-the-Penguin's-speech. :p

Yo! Bat out!

Ferret -> The current motto of the director and writer is to make it as realistic as possible (considering you have a guy dressed as a giant bat) and focusing on Bruce Wayne instead of the villains.

What I mean is AFAIK from my uncle in the orriginal comics he was pretty much no mercy could kill bad guys, but ever since Adam west made it into a family program the bad guys would disapear our be knocked out then tied up etc.

In the original comics, Batman would kill if he had no alternative. But it was still something he tried his damnedest not to have to do. He always preferred, where possible, to immobilize/incapacitate/hospitalize the crooks and let the cops and the system handle it from there.

In the first year of comics (i.e. 1939-40), Batman even carried a handgun. But the character evolved quickly into the "shall not kill" hero we know today.

During the heyday of the TV series, the comics reflected the silliness. Only in the 70s, with abysmal sales, did DC put Denny O'Neal in charge of the Bat. His scripts were much darker and brought Batman closer to his roots as the Dark Knight Detective. Denny invented, among other villains, Ra's Al Ghul, Clayface II, Hugo Strange and Man-Bat. That was the time when Robin left the batcave and Bruce lived in a penthouse at Wayne Enterprises (as opposed to the Manor).

The realistic art by Neal Adams also cemented Batman's turn towards grittiness that eventually culminated in The Dark Knight Returns.

Almost, but not quite right. O'Niel did not create Hugo Strange. Strange is slightly older than The Joker, appearing in Detective Comics 37 or so (The Joker and The Catwoman both appear in Batman 1 which came out around the same time as Detective Comics 40... Wherein Clayface I debuts).
