Well I finished Ravenholm and I wasn't impressed. The only times I freaked out even in the least was when I came off the elevator and encountered the poison headcrab slinging zombie for the first time. I also freaked a little when I first encountered the fast headcrab zombie. Other than that it was pretty tame compared to Doom3. :\

Voted Doom 3 for creepiness, due to the superior lighting effects. But I prefer HL2 overall.

Creepiest game I ever played was System Shock 2.

Now Sillent Hill is creepy!

Good call.

The first one was the creepiest to me, but the second one was most disturbing. Resident Evil doesn't even hold a candle to the maligned darkness that is Silent Hill.

Silent Hill is hands down the creepiest and most disturbing game I've ever played. I remember when the Nurse gets dragged down to hell, just sitting there depressed going "Aw, she didn't deserve that... That just isn't right... Isn't there something you can do?"

Another vote for Alien vs Predator 2... The single player missions (Human) are amazing... The dark environment and the constant beeps of the pulsing radar were enough to send me through the roof many times :)

I absolutely love that game... The developers really got it right.

EDIT: I haven´t played Doom3 or Half-Life 2, so i can't comment on those... Still using 400 MHz :P

Creepiest game for me, hands down, was System Shock. A lot of it was down to the atmosphere, finding the desperate voice logs of deceased crewmen, the haunting presence of the AI.

Guess what? Some ENworlders were involved in creating that!

I got the creeps in Ravenholm worse than Doom 3. Well maybe it was more one particular scene... when I set the zombies on fire with the natural gas traps or whatever they are and the zombies came out flaming or screeming. That really gave me the chills as it seemed so realistic.

Both Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 are not creepy. Doom 3 because it does the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over etc.... Half-Life 2 because the setting is set up the provide a playground for your gravity gun.

The one true creepy game is Silent Hill. System Shock also ranks highly up there. Resident Evil also had some creepy moments, expecially the first time you notice that the music disappeared.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines has some pretty creepy areas. It isn't really a FPS, as you switch to 3rd person when using melee weapons. There is also a significant RPG component.
