Ok.. not that I am going to suggest any songs.. but something else.

Why do you sing your songs?

is it.. you national anthem or the local equiv? Something to build up a strong belief of the cause that you fight for?

is it a religious song.. something for your God.

is it a Public Service Annoucement.. like.. All your base belong to us...

is it something it instill fear and terror in your opponents.

or is it like a drum beat.. or a chant.. something to swing in time to... and something that creates a sense of unity with your fellow warriors.

You would probably find that for a lone warrior.. either a Vow or a Prayer before each battle would be more appropriate.. like the one from the 13th warrior.. or say something like the samuri dude in the Castle of Caglisostro.. - I must warn, my blade is thirsty tonight!!.

Or.. God, lend me the strength so that I may open a can of whoop umm.. you get the picture.



You will probably find it easier to find something suitable once you understand the person that you are playing, and what their motivation for singing it is.

Actually your Manowar lyrics would be good for a CE barbarian culture like eg Moorcock's Mabden; or skinhead bully-boys in the real world. I can't see any real military wanting to enthuse their troops before battle with that stuff, though!

Just making an observation to this, not trying to spur an argument. I watch Mail Call on the History Channel with R.Lee Ermey (the Quintessential Drill Instructor), which is a good show about military history and weapons. Anyway, after the show, Basic Training came on, a show about various individuals making it through basic training (where they say it is tougher and more challenging than ever, ha!) and there were recruits chanting death songs and chomping at the bit to 'kill' their opponents, this was during pugel stick fighting, and not lethal. The chanting was very aggressive.
