Battletech Kickstarter launched today, already on great track

I love me some Battletech, but this really looks like it's one of their Shadowrun games with a Battletech skin. Still good, but I don't feel the need to kickstart that.

Don't get me wrong, I like Harebrained's Shadowrun games (at least the last two) and I'll be very likely to buy a Battletech themed one, but I'm more interested in the PvP and tactical game when it comes to Battletech.

They clearly stated that with BattleTech, they focus on the tactical combat aspect, while Shadowrun wasa primarily an RPG that happened to have tactical combat.

I took that the bit they've already completed and wanted to fund with the first goal was entirely a tactical combat game (single player vs AI, but still), but that the next two major goals were a single player story focused game (the first stretch being the core story game and the second adding a bunch of additional content to that core story game). It's only after the story game is done that they stretch to a tactical PvP oriented game, albeit under the aegis of Solaris VII, so arena based combat with tourneys, not open field warfare.

As I said, I'm gonna buy it. I like what Harebrained has done so far, and I lurve the BT universe. But, to paraphrase, this isn't the game I want, but it is the game I'll have.

In one of the Q&A's they did on twitch a viewer asked if they had considered doing multiplayer co-op or a skirmish style pvp with the ability to do like your own campaign against each other. They said they hadn't considered that at all and might have to talk that over internally.

One of the voice actors from Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries who did the voice of "Duncan Fisher" the Solaris announcer named George Ledoux put out a little promo in his free time for it too. Take a listen...
