Do man-boobs count? Otherwise, I really see no use for this rule in my games...

I think it's sad that the developers think this is a new discovery. My group has all had beards since facial hair rules were introduced in Blackmoor. I know a lot of the 11 and 12 year old kids don't have the attention span to grow a beard, but any DM worth his salt would at least hand out costume Groucho Marx moustaches before the game. If he doesn't, it's more a problem with the DM than the existing rules.

I'm going to start keeping a false beard handy for the ladies that game with me.

And, yes, "Ladies" includes men who cannot grow beards.
