Beastmaster Pet Question

So, question, does a beast master ranger's pet die at 0 or a -bloodied? I would assume it's -bloodied, but all the references I could find to beast just say it is a "creature", including in a sentence where it says "You and your beast companion are treated as separate creatures."

It never explicitly says whether it's a PC-like creature or a monster/NPC-like creature.
