Beating a dead horse (Apostle of Peace and Magic Items)

Since this takes into account the Vow of Poverty ("as part of their sacred vows")...

I don't think it's clear that the sacred vows that require forswearing of armor in this context include the Vow of Poverty.

Remember, it's possible to have a feat without having the prerequisites. If there were a race that gained Apostle of Peace as a racial bonus feat, for example, they would not be required to have the Vow of Poverty feat. They would still be prohibited from wearing armor by the AoP feat, but could wear magical protections.

Any character who has AoP and VoP, however, is prohibited from using magical protections by the VoP feat, even though the AoP feat does not prohibit it.

Isn't Apostle of Peace a PrC?

Ah, so it is.

Well, looking at Vow of Poverty, breaking the vow doesn't actually cause you to lose the feat; it causes you to lose the Benefit of the feat, which includes all the bonuses, bonus feats, etc.

However, while an Apostle of Peace who broke his Vow of Poverty would lose all his VoP-related bonuses, he'd still have the feat, and thus satisfy the PrC requirement. So it's possible to have an AoP wearing Bracers of Armor. He just loses a lot to do it.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how you read the text. Both views are defendable, though, from a game balance point of view, I go with the view that even with the PrC, you still have to folow the VoP restrictions.

Thought I'd chime in after reading. Have we considered the possibility that the miss print was VoP being in the prereqs for the AoP?

I mean, it's an Apostle of Peace, not poverty- the req seems inconsistent with the theme of the class. If you want VoP, then take it and forsake magic items, but if you dont want it then keep the magic items and keep calming emotions and censuring fiends.
