Been Awhile...

We started a new Scarred Lands Campaign last week, with CDSaint running. I am playing a Wood Elf Ranger/Druid, there is a human fighter, and than there are 2 players making new characters. We fought a pack of ghouls on Saturday and two of the party members were killed... Why are Ghouls only CR1, they ran through the group like threshers in wheat. Any thoughts?

seriously.. one thing i've noticed over the years is that players tend to think they're obligated to stand and fight to the death toe to toe with things, that maybe they should just run from when the going gets bad, so they can regroup, heal up and return and finish the job later

One Ghoul is CR 1, meaning it challenges a first level party. a Pack can be up wards of CR 5 depending on how many you are dealing with.
