Beholder in Seattle

I have some nice pictures of it, the troll, and the life-size dungeon tiles at home if nobody else tosses them up I will tonight when I get the kids to bed.

Jenkin, bite your tongue. Err, fingers....

I guess it's time to pay a visit to my daughter in college. "nice to see you too, sweetee. Say, let's get a cup of coffee. No, way across town. Why? No reason. Just herd they had good coffee at Occidental."

Followed by much sighing and eye-rolling as I giggle at the beholder.

He came up for the shoot, but also to attend the Seattle Game Day event on June 7. If you want to play a life-sized game against the beholder, you'll get the chance if you're in Seattle.
There's D&D fans in SoCal too!!! Man, we get nothing down here. They even took away our GenCon SoCal.... Why do people hate CA so much?

Wow! The stat card that goes with that must be HUGE!

:D

Seriously though, this is a great marketing stunt. They should tour it all over the country, putting it out in unexpected public places. This is the sort of thing local news channels love to send reporters out to cover and get people's reactions.

And every time a group of people walks by and someone in the group asks "What the heck is that thing ?" chances are someone else in the group will answer "a Beholder" and then be forced to admit/reveal/proudly proclaim that they play or used to play D&D.

Bingo! Now you've got people talking about the game with someone who is able to answer their questions about it, maybe discuss the new edition, maybe offer to run a game if anyone wants to try it...

Brilliant! The Beholder has just hooked some new players who didn't realize they had a DM in their midst all along.

The roaming Beholder. Coming soon to a town near you!

I think it's a great idea and all but as the father of a 3 year old I'll say that this is the type of thing some parents are scared will frighten the daylights of their little one(s). My son doesn't even know what a gun is and thinks monsters are overgrown frogs only seen in storybooks.

Cool but I wouldn't want my kid seeing it.

Let's see...the traffic, the cost of living, the a-holes, the sprawl, the smog, the lack of seasons...

Sorry, sorry...left there last year, and STILL getting it out of my system! :heh:
