Being attacked while grappling

Is anyone aware of a rule that grants characters in the midst of a grapple, an AC bonus?

I have a situation where a character is grappling a Worg, and is being simultaneously attacked by two goblins. The player wants to know if he gets a bonus to his armor class against the attacks of the goblins?

I've gone through the PHB and DMG, and can't find any reference to being attacked while grappling. Now it could be that I'm blind, but I thought I would check with the knowledgable crew around here.

My inclination is to give him a cover bonus rather then an AC bonus.

What do you guys think?

No such bonus exists. In fact, the grappling character loses his dex bonus against those outside the grapple and thus becomes more vulnerable.

However, ranged attacks have an even chance of hitting either character in the grapple, so it's at least a defense against bows.

Let's hope those goblins don't have Rogue levels...

Nope, it's a first level intro into a play by post Midnight Campaign. I thought Rougue levels may have been a wee bit much for the poor Barbarian. :]

Naaaaaaah :D

Edit: If a worg isn't too much, I wouldn't care for the goblins.

Nothing in D&D but in Conan d20 if you are grappling an opponent and have him pinned you can attempt to use him as cover against attacks :) Go Conan!

A Worg + goblins isn't too much for APL 1? Eek.

3 goblins (CR 1/3) + 1 worg (CR 2) = EL 3, right?

Actually it's much worse then that.

The Barbarian Dworg character was tracking a group of Orcs. By the tracks, he knew that there were multiple orcs, a chain gang of captured Halflings, and at least two large wolves.

He followed them to an abandoned village. He set up a camp three miles outside the village, He crafted a snare trap, built a large fire, and camoflaged himself hoping to bait out the orcs.

eventually someone came to investigate, but it was three goblin Worg riders. Instead of staying hidden, he sprung the trap, and jumped out of a tree on to a Worg.

Odd thing is, this is an experienced player, that I expected to stay hidden. The worst part of it, due to some poor rolls on my part, the guy has gone through two of the Worgs, one of the goblins has run away to alert the orcs, and he's poised to actually live through this scenerio, which will teach him nothing.

In case you want documentation, from the SRD:

Grappling Consequences
While you’re grappling, your ability to attack others and defend yourself is limited.

No Threatened Squares: You don’t threaten any squares while grappling.

No Dexterity Bonus: You lose your Dexterity bonus to AC (if you have one) against opponents you aren’t grappling. (You can still use it against opponents you are grappling.)

No Movement: You can’t move normally while grappling. You may, however, make an opposed grapple check (see below) to move while grappling
