Seconded, although its a problem no matter what game you are trying to run. Right now, I'd have trouble drumming up enough folks for a 4e game. Oddly enough, I've fallen into a group with some old friends and we play a mashup of Basic and CnC, now. I'd have never guessed that before I was playing it. The fact that you can't play these games alone is a big factor in which games I play. Currently, the local game players are so fragmented that its rather difficult to get groups started (thanks, edition wars). If 5e takes off, I think it'll be because it provides a way for that community to defragment and play together again, making it more valuable to than any current edition.
