Best and worst characters?

So what was the best character you ever played? And what was the worst? And DMs, what are the best and worst characters you've ever seen in a game?

I'll start.

My worst character was an elven bard/wizard. My first ever PC. If anyone's every though of trying this as a multiclass combination, don't -- they are completely useless. Only after taking a couple of levels of fighter did she begin to be a viable character.

The best was a very angry and aggressive human cleric of Boccob called Shay. Though part of a good adventuring party, Shay was neutral and channelled negative energy. That, with Cha 10 and Int 16 resulted in a very heavy-handed but sharp-minded woman whose main interest was in writing her thesis rather than helping out the party or innocent people.

In d20 my favorite character is Valen, my Oozemaster. Since d20 has come out my characters have been much better so there are others I really like.

The worst was a force adept in a star wars d20 game.

My best/favorite was Dungannon, my first ever character. A 1st ed. thief that was blessed with incredible luck at the most opportune times. I retired him early (7th level) to a life of leisure aboard a sailboat because I didn't want to lose him to a RBDM.

Have had several nondescript, boring characters, but none that I would really consider "bad", per se.

My best character is Miguelito Yaps-at-Stoplights, a Ronin Werechihuahua Ahroun who regularly terrorized the other supernatural denizens of the World of Darkness. Five foot eight in Crinos form, but superhumanly strong and fast for his size. His favorite quote: "Human scum? My mother's human, you :mad::mad::mad:ing mangy baby-eating mother:mad::mad::mad::mad:er! You want to say something else about my mother, or should I rip your :mad::mad::mad:ing holier-than-thou tree-hugging sheep-:mad::mad::mad:ing tongue out of that ugly mouth of yours now?"

I only play World of Darkness games if I'm allowed to play Miggy.

As a DM, the best character I've ever had playing in one of my games was a Green Folk (Gamma World) based off of a venus fly trap. It looked roughly like the plant from Little Shop of Horrors and was a fairly high-level Esper.

It didn't have Mobility as a mutation, but it could manipulate objects with its vines. To help it get around, the players strapped its flowerpot into an Ancient wheelchair they found, and it wheeled itself around fairly well. It would usually levitate over rough ground.

Around about when it reached eighth level, it started making the other characters call it "Professor."

Its hard for me to choose a favorite all time character. It'd probably be a toss-up but I'll go with Quickgold, my first ever character, who was an elven fighter/mage that was converted from an elf (red box). The campaign lasted 8 years off and on, although due to level limits I was only like 9 ftr/13wiz. He was LG and he stayed LG his entire career, not even tempted to stray by the offer of a Helm of Brilliance.

Worst? I don't know... I've never really had a character I didn't enjoy playing, but...

I'll go with Biju Ram ('the Scorpion') a NE halfling rogue/psionicist from 2E. He was cool to play, never used a weapon other than his psionics, a garrotte, blowgun, or the like, but the manipulation and subterfuge he employed to cover his back eventually turned the party upon itself and they killed each other in a big bloody brawl. Except for Biju, who sneaked away...

I'd say he was the worst character because in the end he disrupted the game and that's never good.

My best character is Jain Hadlin, Andorian Wanderer. I'm playing him in a message board game that started last March. I wanted to try and prove that the Wanderer class was more then just a Rogue/thief type so i avioded all the lock picking, pick pocketing type skills and made him a Field medic with very strong morales, and personnal code. To finish him off i added a dark seacret from his past, he had performed killed a young male channeler, and had been haunted by the experiance ever sence.

My worst character? Nothing specific but i had a whole string of min maxed uber characters back when i was younger and still playing Old D&D.

Worst? When I tried to make a mockery of Aladdin in Al Quadim, and had a thief called Ali, and his trained theives fetch monkey, Cheeko. God, that was horrible...

Best? Arrow. Originally the henchman of my ORIGINAL character, Arrow struck out on his own after my first character became an Immortal. Arrow is also the first character to crossover from D&D to AD&D 2nd Ed as a Gray Elven Fighter/Mage. He's a master archer, but not a leader at all (which is handy, since he's still around as a supporting character controlled by me, the DM). He did recently get married to a human woman, but hasn't found out yet that she's nothing but a simularcrum with the memories of a dead girl (she doesn't know she's not real either!).

Best Played By Me: Beren Ritter, 2nd/3rd Edition half-elven bard in a home-brew. The DM in this campaign had a very detailed history/timeline for his campaign, and it inspired me to create a neat and detailed character/family background of my own that the DM was able to use well in the adventures we played. Beren started out as the party diplomat (high Cha!) on a diplomatic mission to rally the support of the estranged dwarven and elven nations to help defend our own human kingdom from an invasion. My use in fights wasn't that great (Str 7!), but my spells and performing played a major factor many times. It was my most challenging role-playing experience ever and I liked how it turned out. The campaign ended for a while with the invasion over (for now) and Beren being promoted to Ambassador to the Elves.

Worst Played By Me: I liked all the characters I played, in their own way, but I guess if I had to pick one it would be Strider, my 2nd Edition ranger. A ranger named Strider. How imaginative. He was still fun to play, though.

Best Played in Campaign I DMed: Larkan Blackmoon, 2nd/3rd Edition elven cleric/wizard/loremaster/archmage. Too long of a histrory to tell all, but he is the party wizard in a Planescape campaign. He is the only character left from the beginning of the campaign; it started at 1st level and the party is now at 19th level, and Larkan is the only character that made it there all the way, no coming in late or skipping levels. He has been through many adventures...Dead Gods...For Duty and Deity...Rod of Seven Parts...Faction War...Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil...Die Vecna Die!...and now I am running them through a high-level adventure of my own making that will likely wrap up the campaign. Larkan is best, though, because of his player. He roleplays very well with most any character, and I have really enjoyed watching him grow with this character.

Worst Played in Campagin I DMed: I hate to bad-mouth my players, and nothing exceptionally bad comes to mind anyway, so I think I'll skip this part. :)

Thanks,

Atavar

"A warrior's drink!" -- Lt. Worf, upon trying the Terran delicacy: Prune Juice

Worst: a generic dwarf fighter that lasted one adventure (by choice)

Best: My namesake Kaiyosama, the katana / wakizashi weilding oriental elf with an emphisis on honor and skill. Not an increadbly original character, but he was fun to paly and is currently looking for new stomping grounds. He was my first real character (ie wasn't a one shot) The part I like most was his name
