Best Books of 2003

First place has got to go to the trio of 3.5 Core Rule Books.

After that I loved the following books:

* Crime and Punishment (Atlas Games)
* Dangerous Denizens (Kenzer & Co.)
* Dynasties and Demagogues (Atlas Games)

I must give the nod to Crime and Punishment if I only had to pick one book, it totally rocks! Lots of god flavor, and some cool crunchy bits.

Best: Fiend Folio

Honorable Mention (in no particular order):
Book of Exalted Deeds
Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary
Lost City of Barakus
3.5 Core Rulebooks
Torn Asunder: Critical Hits

Caveat: I haven't had a chance to get into the Player's Guide to the Wilderlands yet, but it sounds like the type of book that might also make my list.

The Fiend Folio is pretty awesome, I have to say.

Was Monsternomicon not this year? Cause otherwise I can't explain it not being on any lists yet. Maybe the best RPG book I've ever bought.

Skull and Bones -- yahoo. That's good clean fun, that.

By far the best books I purchased in 2003 were from Tactical Studies Rules:

Booklet I Men & Magic
Booklet II Monsters & Treasure
Booklet III The Underworld & Wilderness Adventures

hey, i buy as many copies of the old stuff as i can find/afford. :D

Well, I've just updated my Christmas list -- since I know my wife still has a bit of shopping to do.

Now on the list:
Fiend Folio
Magical Medieval Society
Midnight

Already high on my list:
Draconomicon
Book of Exalted Deeds

Strangely, I wasn't impressed by Arcana Unearthed. Reasonably well-done rules, but Monte and I just don't have the same view on flavor.

I wouldn't have any idea how the rules are as the flavour stuff Monte put on his site put me off. Never even looked at the books in the shop.
