Two characters, 2ed (Mage-thief, mine, cleric-thief, buddies) traveling with a caravan to a city just north of the Southern Emirates. Turns out a green dragon has been raiding the countryside. So, of course, it attacks the caravan we're riding with. Makes once BW pass and wipes out all off the flak-ba, er, regular people. The caravan master (mid-level fighter) and the cleric look at me in great annoyance when I don't cast any spells before it makes it next pass (I delay, we allowed that in our games). The DM shruges and announces "The dragon flies up to you and breathes." I announce, "Burning hands, in the mouth". DM and other player are stunned. Remeber, this is a 2ed green dragon with explosive, chlorine breath. Penetrate the dragons magic resistance, the dragon gets TWO savings throws, one to realise what I'm doing and NOT breath, the second to take only half-damage from the explosion (in it's mouth). Fails both. Head explodes, instant death. The caravan master and my buddies cleric make their saves, take half damage and live. I fail my save and die. And the caravan master paid for half the raise dead spell. If I'd made my stinking save I would've even survived my brilliant plan. [sigh] Oh, well, I got him.
