Best D20 non-WotC Campaign Setting?

I will agree that some of the spells in R&R2 need a little fixing but there is errata out for at least ONE of the spells in there. But not sure what feat you could be talking about. I didn't see any that screamed "overpowered!"

I can think of a few spells I wouldn't allow. But the most "ridiculously" overpowered out there? Neh. I daresay your exposure is a little limited. Take a look at (example off the top of my head) Secret College of Necromancy sometime...

Overpowered feats? Again neh. Hardly any feats in SL products to date. And nothing worse than any of their competitors.

Sorry 'bout that. Meant to edit feats out of there. My bad.

The spells themselves(well some are) aren't really overpowered so much as some of the levels are bit off. IDHMBIFM and I wish I could remember what it was called, but there is some cleric spell our party cleric wanted to cast a couple sessions ago that I had never seen before that literally made my eyes bug out. From then on I stress to my players that they must get approval in advance before putting any R&R spell in thier repertoire. :)

Yeah I forgot about Secret College. There were some pretty overpowered spells in that one.

Clerical spell huh. Don't suppose you could remember what it did? (I know most of the spells by heart. Sad huh? ;) )

In any case glad to see I'm not the only one that think MOST of SL feats are pretty okay.

For a non-WotC setting... without a doubt IMO it would be the Scarred Lands.

There is plenty of support and information on the setting with new stuff always coming out.

Also we have the Sage right here on these boards (and others) to help out anyone who has any questions, right Nightfall? :)

2 you really shouldn't pass up

Arcanis....(PCI).
Political, Social, and the normal mayhem abound in this tome. This one is definitely written for DM's who don't want a lot of additional rules, but want a rich double - entendre type environment for thier players. The sheer lack of Alignment for gods makes this world a definitel grey one. In which right and wrong has to be determined by the player...

Freeport (GRP)
A finer built city you'll be hardpressed to find, Maybe if you can find an oop copy og City State of the Invincible Overlord around somewhere, but if you want to go to sea and duke it out.. In a very lethal environment... This one is a can't miss.

Bluemoon,

We were all once in your shoes (and it was mightly crowded).

I would suggest any of the following fine campaign settings:

1. Arcanis/Onara from Paradigm Concepts: with the added bonus of a "Living" campaign pumping out modules and support.
2. Portals of Midwrathe by Twilight Ink: a small, shared campaign world which can be found at d20rpg.org (my personal favorite).
3. Erde by Troll Lord Games: a bit cheesy but with a lot of heart.
4. Kingdoms of Kalamar by Kenzer Co.: by far the best production values of any campaign being produced.
5. Hârn by Columbia Games: quaint and well produced with all the flair and grit of the real Middle Ages.
6. Middle Earth by ICE: lots of cool maps and a campaign setting that is pretty easy to understand (I don't recommend running it withe the MERP system though...too cumbersome).
7. Old Glorantha by Chaosium: not the new stuff by Issairies Press--it is a little too weird.

I would hesitate to recommend something like Greyhawk unless you are looking for nostalgia. And as an old crotchety gamer I haven't been able to keep up with all the new stuff so I can't really speak to those.
