Okay, guys. Here's the deal.

I'm going to be in London the week of the 4th of July (mostly visiting family, but also some sightseeing and goofing off).

So, if I wanted to visit cool game shops in town, where would I go? My wife's going to be dragging me to a bunch of shops for her bookbinding hobby, the least I can do is "expose" her to more of mine. ;)

Ack! The big problem with London is that floorspace is expensive, and a good gaming shop needs a lot of floorspace. Leisure Games in Finchley was pretty decent last time I went, and Dark Sphere by Waterloo Station isn't bad although is drifting more and more towards tabletop wargames. But none of them are great to be honest - rent is just too expensive.

Hi,

My favourite shop is Orc's Nest, 6 Earlham Street, London WC2H 9RY – nice and central and run by great people. Website here . Leisure Games is very good but it's a bit out of the way. Dark Sphere had virtually no roleplaying stuff when I went there 6 months ago.

I have a bookbinding wife too - she loves Shepherds. They've recently moved to 30 Gillingham Street, London SW1V 1HU (near Victoria)

Hope this helps

Cheers

Shepherds is on the docket -- she's already scoped out the new location online. It'll be much more convenient for us, since we'll be staying with my father, who lives around the block from Wandsworth Common Rail station -- just a few stops away from Victoria, which always ends up being our first stop in the city.

Thanks to @Neaonchameleon, too, -- I hope to have time to check all of them out. ;)

I made it to Orc's Nest -- perfect location (a block from the boot shop my wife was raiding) and while very cramped, they had a very good selection of stuff. You can really tell that they're packing as much as they can into a tiny space, but that's what you get fro downtown London. Thanks for the tip -- I found an OOP savage worlds book I've been using via PDF -- pretty excited to have it on paper now, too.

That's great - so glad you found it OK!
