Go Krieg go!

Here's a test result (it's a text file) hosted on spywareinfo.com's forums: AV detection tests.txt

AntiVir got 85% of the varius baddies, AVG only 69% (apparently missing many trojans).

AVG is still nice, it's got a great overal feel (except for the wacky installation process with their secret decoder rings and stuff), but I wouldn't be as comfortable.

I use avast as well. It has it's moments of weakness. I've tried used AVG in the past and been happy, but it will not seem to run on 2 of my machines, so i ditched it in favor of one that did run.

Both are pretty good, and I highly recommend having 2 anyways, just for the reasons mentioned above. No single program works 100% of the time, but having a second one around to do scans from time to time should pick up any stragglers.

I'm an Avast user. It's free, and it has a nice Piratey-sounding name!

AVAST YE HARDIES!

And that's worth a lot, in my book.

It's also worked very well for me, and has defended my home system and laptop against a lot of malware and virii.

Ditto!

I have to vote for Anti-vir. I had trouble getting AVG or Avast to work with a Win98se setup about a year ago and have been running Anti-vir ever since. It works well under my XP machine too. No problems in over a year on three different machines.
