Best Horror Movies of All Time

I think that the trope of (REMOVED) from Jacob's Ladder is actually so common in media, that there is a long-running podcast (How Did This Get Made) that refers to the trope when they see it as Jacob's Ladder.

Honestly, it's so common now that whenever I see something that isn't quite making (Sixth) Sense, I say to myself, "Self, is this a Jacob's Ladder?"

I have to admit this is one of my favorite tropes. It is even a trope you can kind of impose on normal film that aren't even doing it, as a reading of it. For those who haven't seen it, definitely check out Carnival of Souls. It is a bit odd, but a very well done movie that tackles this idea.

Did I find it scary? Not really. I think the part where the girl vomitted in the tent, spooked me a bit the first time I saw it. It is definitely a tamer horror movie.
FWIW, I think Shyamalan did a good job of building up tension when needed (including the scariest scene of someone walking past a doorway I'd ever seen).

Alright, lets talk about The Rocky Horror Picture Show, since I'm watching it right now

*Does Rocky lack a bellybutton or is the video on my copy just scuffed? If he does that's very good attention to detail on the part of the filmmakers.

*Despite technically occurring offscreen, Eddie's death manages to be extremely brutal. Curry and Meatloaf really sell it.

*Why are all the actors in this movie named after food?

I was intrigued and checked - he’s got one, but it kind of gets lost in his abs.

Fantastic movie and I agree that Meatloafs death is super well done. It used to play in my town every Halloween and my friends and I would go all out for it.

Also, it occurs to me that since the photon is its own antiparticle "a laser capable of emitting a beam of pure antimatter" is just any old laser

EDIT:
Which is significant because I initially thought he was misusing the word "laser", but he'sactually not

Now I'm watching Dracula: Dead and Loving It. Due to the extreme tameness of the source material the Mel Brooks horror spoofs are arguably as scary or scarier than the movies they're parodying. Increases in permissiveness and advances in special effects also play a role. 1930's Universal probably couldn't have done the transformation scene or the mirror scene, and more importantly they probably couldn't have gotten away with Harker being drenched in blood or with Van Helsing manhandling human organs or prattling on about how Vlad Tepes tortured the pesants

This is one of the best movies for Halloween IMO
