Best Intro Adventure

4E has been out for a while now (so hopefully you've some experience with this). What do you think is the best adventure to use to introduce people to the game who have never played? I've got Keep on the Shadowfell and Kyber's Harvest both handy. What do you think of those? Is there a better one available?

Do you have the DMG? For people who have never played the mini adventure is a pretty good intro into the game. The adventure is resolved in 4 encounters and they get to battle a pretty mean dragon at the end of it.

If they like it then it's easy to lead off from there.

Kobold Hall - the adventure in the DMG, is a good intro to the mechanics of the game. But, it is a bit of a hackfest, and isn't a great intro into doing anything other than trying to dice up monsters.

I LOVE the slaying stone. It's absolutely great. The characters seek a magic stone that can kill any one person. Gives a GREAT reason for the heroes to seek it out. Everyone has that evil antagonist they want to kill, plus paladins and such may want to find it to destroy it. Simple story with a couple really good encounters.

Tomb of Horrors, original rules. Teach them right, I say.

I'll second the little adventure in the DMG. A great one or two session game to get their feet wet (THEN ToH!).

If you just want to try the game out, I too suggest Kobold Hall. If you want to play a real adventure with plot hooks, reasons for being there, etc, then check out Slaying Stone, an excellent adventure.

For free, there's always the original Ennie-nominated 4E adventure: Raiders of Oakhurst Reloaded. It includes a starting town, main dungeon, side treks, and a wilderness area that can serve as the starting point for a future campaign. It's easily portable to multiple campaign settings.

It's been translated into a couple languages beyond English, as well.

I thought of Raiders too, I just couldn't remember the name of the town nor the link to the adventure. Yes, way better adventure than the one in the DMG.

Can someone explain to me how that could possibly be the first published adventure compatible with 4th Edition when:

(a) Keep on the Shadowfell came out before the game was released.

(b) The GSL wasn't released until after the game was released.
