Best large-scale fantasy campaign plot

I was thinking of back when Dragon Lance broke onto the scene, possibly the biggest fantasy campaign plot up to that time. Basically a world war roaring in the background while the PCs performed various missions.

What is the best 'big' fantasy campaign plot out there? I haven't really been keeping up.

Or at least, your favorite and why.

I see where a lot of the campaign books have regional-spanning problems, but I'm not sure about world-spanning. I'm thinking of the ones such as Avernus, Tiamat, and the Giants ones.

I wouldnt say these are the best but FR has had a few since its adoption by TSR, the Tuigan Horde, the Time of Troubles and The Return of the Shadowvar that played out in game from 1E-3E. Then there were a few that played out behind the scenes, the Fall of Netheril, the Spellplague, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

We ran a campaign where an undead horde took out 3/4 of the FR conspectus map that used to come with the 2E boxed sets. We took a Sharpie and blacked out huge swathes that the horde claimed. The PCs eventually vanquished it and won the day, but we ended there before they could clean up the aftermath.

Searching for the pieces of the Rod of 7 Parts
I'm assuming homebrew rather than just published settings
The Rod of Seven Parts boxed set from 1997 always caught my eye while browsing FLGS back then, and always considered buying it but never did. Pre-made mega adventures were never our thing so never did, but I was always intrigued by the concept.

I sadly do not have it either, but it exists as a homebrew version of it if the PCs pursue it in our sandbox game. Close to 30-year anniversary, they can definitely update the original for a 5e AP.
