Maybe, if you ignore the errata that it gets a fort save.

I'm aware of the errata. I wasn't aware that getting a Fort save meant automatic success for the Tarrasque. Is that also in errata? ;)

As for the damage, Again, im not sure on the exacts, but he had greater magic weapon on his bow and arrows running, a persistant divine favor up, divine might on, and various other buffing spells. His damage was amazing (Cleric archers are nice....). When they killed it was just kind of like "What?".... heh

Out of curiosity, how much XP did you reward for them? A 12th level party defeating a CR 20 opponent is not supported in the DMG.

Umm...Ya, it's the part written in ugly handwriting and pen. :D

If I remember correctly, I think I gave the group as a whole around 50,000 experience. There were 7 of them so they each got their share. I gave the cleric an aditional 50% of his share, and the mage an extra 10% for saving the non flying members butts. I'm pretty usually not that giving with experience, but it really blew my mind when they beat it. I had no intention of them even fighting it for a round.

Players who do this should get more XP. Thanks.

Maybe, I think I gave more than I should have myself though. I like my games to level up more slowly than standard. I usually give about 40-60% less exp and gold based on the charts in the DMG.

That's okay, with that amount of XP, they're probably way behind normal GP. Since a good chunk of character power at that level usually comes from magic items, they shouldn't get too out of control. Except for maybe the cleric archer. He seems to be using his spells more than his toys, and he got more XP.

The Tarrasque is a stupid monster. It's the ultimate of the tank type monsters - the trolls, giants, etc that do gobs of melee damage and have lots of HP, but have little other abilities. Despite the T's many defenses and immunities, battling it is still a pretty simplistic fight.

I think the most fun way to deal with the Tarrasque is dominate monster. It's Will save is only +20. If you focus on increasing your save DCs, it shouldn't take more than a few castings to get you your very own pet Tarrasque. It's SR 32 isn't too hard to beat either.

If you play in the Forgotten Realms, the really scary thought is a Red Wizard should be able to dominate it without difficulty at 17th level just by using a Circle beforehand to boost his caster level and save DCs to the point where the Tarrasque can only save on a 20. Imagine how much fun Thay could have with the Tarrasque under their control.
