wtf? of all the "unortodox" books...

nice cover tho :o

Thanks. Unorthodox Modern Cheerleaders was nominated for the "sexiest" cover this year at Gamewyrd (it didn't win). And Gamingreport.com gave the book a fine 4-star review.

Coming next month:

Can somebody tell me more about Unorthodox Cheerleaders? Is this a serious product or is The Le doing a parody book of the the Unorthodox Line the way (I imagine) Mongoose parodied their "Slayer's Guides" with " The Slayer's Guide to Game Masters"?

Based on the complimentary review I was treated to (thanks TheLe), here would be my quick summary.

This PDF contains 25 pages of content and does take the "career" of cheerleading seriously, in a semi-serious style. There is definately a lot of subtle humor throughout the PDF, but if you don't catch onto it, it would indeed appear to represent itself fairly seriously. (Well, okay... some of the humor is not so subtle *grins* ). The cheerleader is indeed a playable class with significant supporting material. The following uses I would have for this would be:

1. A one night "beer & preztels" gaming session. The party creates a cheerleading squad and off they go to save the school, their football team, their mascot, or who knows... maybe even the world. Of course, I'd like to see the look on your group when you propose this idea... maybe best to break out the beer first and propose the idea later.

2. A resource for a character who wishes to have a unique background to their modern character. The cheerleader has enough useful skills that when used in a serious campaign they would still be of use.

3. A "cheerleaders as comic-like superheros" campaign -- which is sort of what I think they were designed for.

The source is comprehensive -- something which quite impressed me given the subject matter. If you want to make a cheerleader for a character, this PDF covers off every thing you could need. I am picky about depth of content, format and playability -- and I find this source satisfies all such areas. There are lots of good ideas for the Game Master as well.

To me it was not a "laugh out loud and bust a gut" kind of read (like Savage World's "Low Life"), but it was entertaining and generated a few chuckles from me here and there. If used in one of the above 3 ideal uses it would indeed have more value than just an entertaining read.

I must admit that the "feature" cheerleader really portrayed the content of the book well -- more of a superheroine cheerleader appearance -- and I got the impression that she likes being dressed in leather far too much -- and I do not mean that in a negative way :)

hmm, goth. you either love em or hate em. or can you do both? :P

I certainly can. I generally find goths to be annoying and melodromatic... But I also happen to be engaged to a really nice and cute one.
