I was sgoing to bring this up, too. I believe the setting is entirely Open, meaning it could be used as the setting for adventures, or easily dropped into a larger world setting.

Yes, that was my intent during its development.

Live on where? Hardly anyone reuses OGC.

This is sad but true.

I'll say this much... if it weren't for some very restrictive OGC declarations by FFG, the public might see the work I've done on the River or Worlds in more official format.

Now that I've put the E6 document out as 100% OGC, it can't become closed. They'd own their articles but not the concept of E6 itself.

Then again, this might mean they don't want to do the articles at all. We'll see.

But I do believe in the OGC as a great resource. Kun's idea is just a tangent off this thread.

Ack.. wasn't thinking :) also I know you have been talking about OGC but is it actually labeled that? Do you just have to say it's OGC or include a license with it? If it is OGC this would seem to mean it's published. I just ran into Wizard's guidelines below .. these would seem to say they wouldn't take it. Or am I missing something somewhere?

"1. Author Warranties
Author warrants that he has clear title to the Work. Author also warrants that the Work has not been published previously and that the Work is not being considered for publication by any other publisher. Author warrants further that the Work is original and does not infringe upon any copyrighted material other than that published by Wizards of the Coast."

Because my layout skills are weak, the current version is an .rtf file, but that does include the OGL with the section 15 and notes that the whole work is 100% OGC.

Nifelhein said he was working up a .pdf version, but I haven't heard from him on that since last weekend.

It is just a tangent. I'd like to write up a series of articles on it, because I think it would be helpful to a lot of DMs -- and because I'll be doing a lot of the work myself when I start the E6 campaign.

Also, quite frankly, I don't think it's really possible to closed content the following sentence: "You stop leveling at 6, and gain feats at regular intervals after 6." It's all game mechanics, which is uncopyrightable, and as Ryan mentioned, the basic E6 document is OGC. I also won't be covering Conviction, the Death Flag, and stuff like that directly, as those are house rules directed at other areas of D&D (random lethality and wanting a more action/adventure style), even if I really like them.

What would become closed content, is stuff like converting a WotC prestige class from the Complete series to a few E6-compatible feats, altering the stats of a pit fiend so that it's a good E6 final challenge, or writing up invocations useful for conjuring significant magical effects. That's the real goal of the articles, not a copy-paste of Ryan's document(which would not be possible anyways, as I'm not the author of it).

Just a bump here, I picked up Iconic Bestiary, Classics of Fantasy by Ari Marmell (Mouseferatu).

Holy smokes is it good.

I thought I didn't like the Phrenic Scourge, then I realized I didn't like it because it creeps me out. Hence, it's perfect.

Also much love for the Greymalkin and the Ophiduans, who I can see replacing the Yuan-ti in my campaigns completely.
