I am not too keen on the concept of halfling or dwarf arcane spellcaster... just seems so wrong to me.

That said, I do think there is no reason there shouldn't be dwarf and gnome paladins, and elf monks seem like a great idea (they are supposed to be agile warriors... so why not?)

Psion you should read a little Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and you'll see that Dwarf spellflingers are not only logical but way cool too! :D

Personally I like the idea of Paladin, Ranger, Monk and all the other previously 'forbidden' classes now being open to any race. You can do so much more now that required so many house rules in the past.

Well I'm off to create my Gnome Monk/Psion/Paladin now ;)

Paladins can serve any god, as far as I can tell, which means there should be evil paladins running around serving Vecna to the best of their ability.

I thought that Paladins, being divine spellcasters, had to be within one of their patron diety and since Paladins are LG that means only LG, LN, or NG dieties?

If you're merely asking which previously forbidden race/class combo is the toughest I would have to go with a dwarf wizard, They are almost too powerful.

Most powerful combo? Dwarf wizard, no doubt.

Best combo? Half-orc paladin! One of the most fun characters I ever played, despite his inability to lay on hands until level 4 (highest 2 scores were 13 and 13, before racial mods).

Been there, done that.
1) Just because WHFRP does it doesn't mean it's logical and certianly doesn't mean its cool.
2) It's not just logic. It's image and concept.

Half-orc rogue forbidden? Buh? They were thieves in 1E.

Pre Unearthed Arcana, they were the only race that could be Cleric/Thieves, or any multi-classed Assassin...

oh i love the dwarven wizard. they are the artillery of the dwarven war machine.

gnome and halfling rangers are awfully cool as well.
