I'd second the Savage Worlds suggestion, but like others, I'd probably avoid full-on "roleplaying" games entirely. BattleLore, Heroscape, Wreckage, Mag*Blast, or any of a dozen games come to mind, without even getting into the types of CCGs out there.
You could always get the old Red Alert Discwars Star Trek game! Or the Twilight Imperium version of the same game without the license. You can pack everything you need into a couple of ziploc bags and play almost anywhere. Assuming you can find them for sale anywhere....
