I'm not talking about another Elder Scrolls or Fallout 4, but I mean the first game of an entirely new franchise from Bethesda. First they Made the Elder Scrolls series, which is medieval high fantasy, like D&D and LOTR, then they made Fallout 3, their first take on the post-apocalyptic series based on Mad Max. Now, if they were to make a completely new game, what kind of genre/setting could it be based upon? Here are some of many different options.
Sword and Sandal - Could be based around Ancient Greece and be inspired by movies like Clash of the Titans and 300
Oriental Fantasy - Could be inspired by Ancient China, Feudal Japan, or be entirely original
Low Fantasy - Would be a more gritty equivalent to The Elder Scrolls, just like Diablo was a grittier version of Warcraft
Swashbuckling - Being set in a 17th Century world kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean
Steampunk - Taking place in a psuedo-Victorian world
Weird West - Having lots of bizarre and fantastic stuff in the American Old West
Dieselpunk - Would in in a place kinda like the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Urban Fantasy - Set in a fictional city with many horror and supernatural elements
Cyberpunk - Taking place in the near future, like the movie Blade Runner
Planetary Romance - You are on a mysterious planet and have to fight your way through it, like in John Carter of Mars
Space Opera - Pretty much like Bethesda's version of Mass Effect, but probably more interesting
