Better blaster: evoker or sorcerer?

If the PHB-II is allowed, then I choose the Conjurer variant (with Immediate Magic: Abrupt Jaunt) as superior to the Sorcerer. :)

Actually, the more splat books you allow, the more the Conjurer eats the Evoker alive. :(

Yes.

Strange how many spells seem to be malplaced according to school. Further strange, how many are actual "Like A, only better."

If you define better as 'easiest to play at high levels', then I'm going with warmage. Granted, you miss out some useful stuff (only four Advanced/Eclectic Learning slots is a bit of a problem), but you get a broader selection of blasting power than any sorcerer will manage without a set of runestaves, rarely have to think about spell choice, have a d6 hit die and armor, and warmage edge essentially gives you a free damage die.

Now, a well-played wizard, conjuerer, evoker, sorcerer, or psion can certainly outdo a warmage. But as a pure blaster, it's tough (especially if you want to keep the number of sourcebooks it takes to build your character down). And, well, blasters are fun.

What? No love for the Warlock? I see the Warlock as the Blaster incarnate...

I love the Warlock in a manly Viking way, but he falls behind the "blaster" curve pretty quickly, compared to the others listed here. They make great snipers, and can make great crowd-control.
