Better name than 'aerial palanquin,' _or_ fighting on the side of a fleeing airship!

It's more bargelike than my magical steampunk zeppelins, but I tend to use poetical references.

The PC's ship is the Coy Mistress, the powerful bad ship is the Dame Sans' Merci.

Hows about -

The Last Duchess

King of Kings

Blind in Blood

West Wind

So, any suggestions for names for this thing?
If I read the OP correctly, you want names for the type of vessel, not an actual title of it. If I read the OP incorrectly, there are many good names from previous posters.

Alternate words for "ship" include:

barge
craft
ketch
launch
raft
sailboat
skiff
sloop
yacht.

Given that it belonged to an Emperor, I suggest yacht.

Thoughts
Sky Yacht
Imperial Sky Yacht
Skysail. Okay, so it doesn't have sails.... :)
Skysled
Skysleigh

Wingyacht
Firewing
Sunwing

Anything you suggest I make sure I take into account for the encounter?
Yeah. Tell us which adventure this is. I need to own it!

Shouldn't this thread have a spoiler tag or something?

My suggestions:
The Flying Dutchman
The Emperor's whim
The Observatory
The High Ground
The Overseer

Sky chariot works for me. Although sailbarge could work too.

What about "heavenly car"? I know we all associate "car" with internal combustion engine vehicles, but the word existed long before that. It's just a modification of carriage. So it could be a "heavenly/solar/sky carriage", too.
