Better Windows calculators?

Everyone who has a windows computer has, at some point, used the cheapo calculator that comes with it. I have, it's quicker than using the adding machine on my desk. But I want something better. (Sure, I can do the job in Excel...)

So, does anyone know where I can download (and, if need be, purchase) a decent one, something vaguely scientific and financial? Maybe with some graphing functions? I'm getting a new computer, and I'd like to have this on it.

In the Windows calculator, click View and then Scientific.

The calculator powertoy has graphing and history functions - very useful.

You mean it's been there all that time, and I didn't even know it? Grrr...

I've really got to start exploring the programs I have more.

Thanks, man, that's something I didn't know. I've bookmarked the webpage, as well, for when my computer finally gets here (about 3 more weeks...).

Oddly enough, I've never been able to find the Calculator on my laptop. Got this thing last January, Windows XP, and I can't find it. Not that its bothered me, a calculator sits next to my desk, but it strikes me as odd.

If the shortcut is not in the usual location (Start/Programs/Accessories) then just do a search for "calc.exe".

It should be located in C: \WINDOWS\system32 (make sure you have "show hidden files & folders" selected).

I've found GraphCalc to be very useful. It's free, which is definitely the right price. I don't use most of its features, but it certainly beats the windows calculator. It seems to be roughly the equivalent of a TI-85, if that tells you anything.

If there's an i386 folder on your hard drive, it's the installation image of Windows that your system came with. It's very common for PCs that don't ship with "real" Windows CDs to have a setup like that.

Have a look at Maple or Mathematica if you need something _very_ powerful.
