Big Ol' Version O' Bull's Strength

So what's the status of the spell?

If it's still open tfor discussion, I think that 4d4+4 bonus to Strength, and 1 turn/level duration would be a nice 8th level spell.

Even something like d2+20 is a 'variable numeric effect' and the +20 is included.

Oh damn. That's a good point. I overlooked that. Well, that makes it the decision easy. :) OK. I'm dropping the +4 and replacing it with an additional d4, and bumping the spell level up to a full 9th level.

Edit: You have a very specific reason for developing the spell, but why would somebody not just Empower BS?

Metamagic feats should not halt spell development. Metamagic is a great way to get around having to develop higher powered versions of the spells you already know, but Empower should not be a requirement in getting a more powerful variant of Bull's Strength. Besides, couple this spell with Empower Spell, and it makes a really great spell for epic level campaigns, which is what I'm planning for here. I've got 3 campaigns I'm running that are 1 to 3 levels away from epic, and 1 campaign that's already epic.

If the point just is to get spell to Empower more effectively, then I would be very conservative in making it.

It wasn't my original intent for it to empower more effectively, which is why I'm glad you pointed that out, so that I could drop the +4.

It just got revamped again. Let me know what you think. :)

OK. Here's the draft.

Titan's Strength
Transmutation
Level: Brd 9, Clr 9, Sor/Wiz 9, Strength 9
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 minute/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

The spell grants an enhancement bonus to Strength of 5d4 points, adding the usual benefits to melee attack rolls, melee damage rolls, and other uses of the Strength modifier.

There it is. It has been suggested that the duration be set to 1 round/level, which I wouldn't really have a problem with. What does everyone else think?

Since its not part of the strength domain that should go. Other than that it looks good.:D

Uhm...why wouldn't it be part of the Strength Domain? Bull's Strength is, so I figured I'd just leave that in there for completeness. Did I miss something?

Also, how does the duration look to you? Is it good at 1 minute per level, or would it be better off at 1 round per level?

Other than your draping one of its spells. Plus a cleric will get it any way. But you could extend the domain to 10th level but that different. The duration seams fine to me. To realing find if its the right time of the spell you need to use it.

How do you mean? I'm not very familiar with Cleric casting and/or domains, but I figured I would leave it in there so that I didn't cut anyone out of it.

Other than Bigby's Crushing Hand is the 9th level spell of the Strength domain. I hafent sean a domain that have more than one spell per spell level. Tell me if you sean that some do.

Sounds good

Seems to be nicely balanced. Not thinking on Epic levels, I´d make it 8, but with those slots beyond 9 level floating around, seems to be a natural replacement for BS at epic levels.
