I don't need to see the final SRD to know that they've messed up demons, devils, and the planar cosmology to the point I'm no longer interested.

Crunch isn't everything. In fact, it's far less important to me. For me (and many others), the flavor makes the game.
Yea, but my point is still valid. I am like you, in that the fluff is always more important to me, I can make the crunch work. But, just like the crunch, we don't know what the fluff is yet either! In my opinion, nothing has been "messed up" until I see the final game in print.

You're much more optimistic than I. They posted the other day that the PHB is about ready to go to print, did they not? And they've been working on the MM pretty much in tandem with the PHB from what I can glean from the blogs.

Besides, there's almost no chance that they'd throw out such broad changes at this late stage in the development cycle.

You mean that you're not just gonna change your mind after my post? :p

Even though I really like what they have done so far, and I am the eternal optimist, I empathize with those that feel like their vision of what 4e could be is not the same as WOTC's. It sucks so hard when your favorite band's long awaited album really bites. Even worse when your (presumably) favorite hobby is going in a direction you don't vibe with.

enough benevolance.... hooray for me, 4e RULZ!!!11!

(and yor hat of e4 know no limit)

Not really. In the blog entry Mike states "we have to turn over the developed Player's Handbook on Friday" but doesn't say to who. My guess is editing since Mike implies there will be more changes after that when he states "There'll be playtest changes to enter and all that in the next phase, but the bulk of the work on the 4e Player's Handbook will be done."

Thus, I believe the PHB will go to editing. After PHB playtesting is done they will go in and make those changes, then it will go back to editing to clean up the changes and then it will work through the process.

I think we're still several months away from the PHB going to print - unless they want to release some at the D&D experience.....

I would give him two thumbs up but he is a Vikings fan so as a Packers faithful I will have to give him a different finger instead.

Dave

Huh? You mean to tell me that a group as devoted to demons, devils, and other forces of Ultimate Evil as Paizo isn't a nest of Green Bay fans? ;)
