Binder Warlock Question

So I was looking at the binder warlock (yes, I know...)
One of the biggest drawbacks to me was the assumption that the shadow beast ally as this great power. I'm thinking... 'meh.'
SO... would it be legal for a binder to take a power from a regular warlock instead? (without having to multi-class or spend a feat)

As long as you have a choice of warlock powers at that level, yes.

There are some points at which certain subclasses are "locked in" to one option or another. I'm pretty sure the binder has some of that going on but IDHMBIFOM.
