Can anyone explaing to me why a sorceror or wizard would waste a 9th level slot with this ( or any of the spells in this line) when he/she could use...oh i dont know....shapechange?

What am I not getting about these bite of (animal) spells that can't be duplicated with polymorph or shapechange?

personally this is the kind of spell i use to make a wondeous item with. The spell might not be worth much to me as a wizard, but think of it in the hands (now paws) of the party fighter with an opposable enchanted weapon. Or even meaner the Party monk

That's what I use spells like that for as well, such as with the Tiger Amulet. Those spells are almost perfect for what I wanted to make.
