Black Industries to Publish DC Comics RPG?

I think MEGS is one of the best Super hero systems for the universe it was designed for.

I know it lacks in versatility/graininess for human level but the game is about the superman and batman characters not about street level people. It allowed Batman and superman to exist and be useful within the same system. It can play to many different levels I have done the new hero level (Half as effective as the suggested starting value) to the Protect the universe characters (At 3 times the suggested starting value) and had fun and the system held its own.

It is also one of the few systems that I could probably hand the players character sheets and not worry about telling them the rules. I think Hero points is the only thing they would have to know everything else can be smoothly run by an expereinced GM with a GM screen.

There are a few things I would like to see changed in the system but over all it rocks. I have even used the system to simulate other things such as a home made PBEM space game involving exploring the universe.

In addition to teh stats, it's an awesome resourse for character historiesas well. Its the repository of the DC Heroes mailing list character write ups. One of favorite sites to visit.

I find it baffling that someone would suggest that APs make things harder than champions. IME, it makes things easier. Itmakes it pretty trivial to translate powers into effects in the game world. It made it so you never had to divide or multiply to find things like travel time, distance, and so forth.

HERO does use a logarithmic scale for strength (x5 in hero = x2 in DC Heroes), they just don't use it for anything other than generating the scale.

Being a true engineering geek, I always thought it would be interesting to build a system using something akin to MEGS, but actually making sure the units were internally consistent. This means that the energy of one form of attack would be equivalent across the board in terms of APs. Either that or maybe damage done (though I expect a breakdown when you get that V^2 relation to energy and use super speed). The more I think about it, the trickier it becomes. One thing I would have used was the Champions scale since it is finer grained (5 steps double things instead of each step doubling in MEGS).
