Black pudding-->grapple-->concentration

Greetings,

This week in my game there was some debate over a grapple issue.

Druid casts call lightning on black pudding...
Black pudding sunsequently slams, acids, and grabs druid and has him constricted (grapple check success for pudding)...
Druid wishes to continue calling lightning on black pudding even thopugh he is being constricted...

Should he make a Concentration check to do so? If he were to cast a new spell, of course, but since he is maintaining, is the concentration roll necessary?

Would seem that a Concentration check (DC 20 for being grappled) would be needed to call down a lightning bolt. If the check is failed then no lightning bolt is called down but the spell is still present as it has a duration (1 min/level).

If the duration was Concentration, then the spell would end on a failed concentration check.
