Blade Barrier and Stoneskin

As I said earlier, I could see it either way, and would accept the Sage's judgement on this.

He ruled that DR won't help because it's a spell and I accept that.

So he did give a response on this then?

Does Blade Barrier bypass damage reduction since it's "slashing" damage? I would think so, since it's like, you know, a spell and all, but I wanted to be sure.

It's a spell, DR does not apply (but it also doesn't t work against foes immune to slashing damage).

That seems pretty self explanitory to me.

Well... I am disturbed, rather than gratified, that the Sage's reply was in 100% agreement with my final interpretation.

I'm not generally a big fan of the Sage's track record.

But as my pappy always said, "Even a blind sow will pick up an acorn every now and then."

And since both of you are in 100% agreement, who's the sow? Between the two of you, you answered first. ;)

Heh... We'll leave that up to interpretation as well then.

Having done the "Online Rep Responsible for All Rules Questions" bit myself, he has my sympathy and understanding. I know what it's like to have folks bombarding you with questions all day and counting on your Official Infallibility.

Which is, actually, specfically why I don't think it's wise to trust too much in the Sage...

This is slightly OT but I noticed in Kreynolds one reason why was because then this spell should then be a lower level. I just say hahahahahaha. Read the spell max damage what? Read the divine damaage caps max damage 6th level area of effect spell is what? Add in that this spell lasts for a long time, and provides cover easily more than makes up for the small reflex no damage penalty and this spell should be minimum 8th level for clerics not the 6th level that it is.

I disagree, and I've already stated why. But it's cool. To each his own, know what I'm sayin'? :)

By the way, did you use a word scrambler on your post? ;)
