Blasts from the past: original jester class and Kim Mohan interview

iPads and many other tablets and e-readers (especially current-gen ones) have 3G or better wireless connectivity, and can access online articles as easily as you would from your desktop.

...And can also read books and magazines offline if the user so chooses.

Your post sure SOUNDED like you were trying to refute it not being a magazine.

No, I was trying to refute the implication that it's not Dragon.

But sure, go for the most ulterior motives you can imagine. Those are definitely the ones the people you disagree with have.

This is an extra-stupid argument.

If one of the goals of the nostalgia articles was to excite non-subscribers, making at least some of them available to everyone would have been a good idea.
I have to admit, if they are trying to entice me to subscribe, making at least one or two available to non-subscribers, with the tease that more are available with a subscription, might help. Of course, making sure that more nostalgic material is available on an ongoing basis might be a bit of a hassle to them, but it would make subscribers out of some people.

I see a couple of you are getting a little personal, antagonistic, and snarky. Please, don't go any further in that manner - it doesn't enhance the conversation for anyone.

Thanks much.

Having worked in publishing for decades, I suspect we are seeing a disconnect between the editorial side and the business side here. I would bet anything that the editorial folks, at the time they assembled this content, were sure that at least some of it was going to be available to the non-subscribing public.

And what you call Dragon is simply a collection of ink on paper.

We get it. You're super bitter and you want everyone to know.

How about this. I had an opinion opposite yours, and since it was contrary you choose to chalk it up to bitterness.

I did not expect to strike anyone's sensitivities by stating that fact. I apologize if the revelation upset you.

That is not a plus in my book. When information is presented digitally and the easiest way to access information you are looking for is via search or bookmark, collecting everything into a single large file doesn't accomplish anything but forcing me to download 80 pages to get to the 6 pages I wanted.

Or you were able to go to a bookstore (remember those) support the local merchant and buy the quality magazine. They actually had to (gasp) worry about quality or people would not buy the magazine (what you would call a collection of ink and paper). NOw they can churn out one or two bits of quality, with quite a bit of filler because it is supported by a character generator.

I haven't said anywhere in this thread that Dragon is still a magazine - in fact, I think I've been pretty clear that you cannot easily reconcile the idea of a traditional print magazine with an online sub-based publication. If you're intent on sticking to the definition of the word, we clearly need a different term to describe Dragon and Dungeon.

EXACTLY! That is the point I was making where you said I was merely bitter. See we can all work around to agreement.

Note I mentioned DRAGON issues. Issues being the key word. No body thinks you have an ulterior motive, that is just silly, and the tone of sarcasm is almost a sure thing you are backtracking.

Simply Dragon has stopped being a Magazine. Sarcastic posts you made previously already show you agree with me, so there is no reason to be on the defensive.
