Blending the Wizard and Druid (or Ranger)

I'm playing a wizard who is considering multiclassing with Druid or Ranger. Does anyone have any advice on prestige classes, feats, etc. that might be appropriate for this type of blend?

Arcane Heirophant from Races of the Wild is a wizard/druid dual-progression prestige class that's pretty hot. It advances both wizard and druid spellcasting every level, advances wild shape if you have it, combines your animal companion and familiar, and gives you some nifty minor class features along the way.

I played a Drd/Wiz/Mystic Theurge up to level 17 back in the day and it was a blast. I played him mostly as a conjurer but I had a lot of metamagic feats too. It was really cool having all those spell slots; I could really load up on metamagic spells.

The 2 spell lists really compliment each other because there isn't much overlap. It's an extremely versatile combo. Plus, I loved casting Summon Nature's Ally and then Animal Growth (the DM didn't though).
