Blink automatically allows sneak attacks, what?

Don't take it personally, Rushlight. Being wrong in the Rules Forum once or twice isn't the End of the World. Trust me. ;)

I am totally against those who support the opinion of those who refute that it is wrong to be assisting the ones that condones anyone who doesn't agree that this innacurately illustrates that it is correct to be thinking that these lies are the truth in demonstrating that all this is irrelevant.

You only seconded that because you are a worshiper of the Beer God and actually understood it. ;)

For what it's worth, I agree with your stance.

That said, you do tend to attract (or get involved with) those not-so-gentle rules debates.

I really just have to refute this, since so far it stands:

Does Blink physically block the rogue's swing?
Yes, blinking onto the ethereal plane makes it physically impossible for the blow in question to land, therefore it is not encompassed by the concealment rule as you contend.

Nothing personal really, I just think you're wrong (and karinsdad is right, which is rare for me).

Ahh, but to accuratly represent the situation, you must also assume that even though one person can see when the light is off, he can only see indistinct shapes and colors - yet he needs to aim for a spot on the target just an inch or so wide.

For effect, try squinting and throwing darts at the same time. You'll be lucky to hit the board - much less the bull's eye.

As has been repeated several times: there is no impediment to the rogue's vision when he makes his attack. He will not attempt to attack when he is on the ethereal plane, but will instead wait until he is on the material. This is because he has a zero chance of succeeding in an attack when he tries to attack someone on a different plane of existance. However, while material, his vision and abilities are perfectly normal. Therefore, he can make attacks just fine. However, the blinking effect interrupts his attacks 20% of the time by shunting him to another plane of existance before the weapon makes contact.

Whether vision is impaired on the ethereal plane is completely irrelevent to whether the rogue can attack normally while on the material plane. And, while blinking, he makes attacks only on the material plane, because only those attacks can succeed.

However, this is all just academic, considering that there is an official source clearly stating that rogues always get sneak attacks when they attack while blinking.

I've always considered the blinking to be going on at a rate of several times per second. So, that the character would never have time to line up a shot while on the material plane, because he'd only have a small fraction of a second.

That said, I imagine it like looking through an airplane propeller. Sometimes, the target is completely blocked, because the prop is between you and the target (or you're on the etherial plane), and certain times, the target is perfectly visible, because it's not (or you're on the material plane). But, as anyone who ever looked through a plane's propeller can tell, you can fairly easily see everything on the other side.

When you attack, you just take your chances that your attack won't be blocked by the prop (or you being on the wrong plane). But you really have no chance of deliberately timing it, because it happens so rapidly.
