Very nice?

Are your ship building and combat rules going to be OGL, or just partly?

OGL. :)

The will be some art (and creative writing) that will be closed, but all the rules will be OGL.

I looks fantastic. However, can you clarify some of the terminology?

antivurus
superier
capitan

Those look just like spelling errors. Antivirus, Superior and Captain.

We just finished the ship sheets, so we still need to edit those for things like that.

Still, we try our best to have everything as clean as possible in the first version, but there's bound to be errors/typos in such a large product (and small team). So we planned to have a contest for BS. Anyone who sends us typos or errors will be in a drawing for free print versions of BS (or any other rpgobjects book).

Also, if anyone sends us rules suggestions that will be rewarded with a print book as well.

People did this anyways for Darwin's World, but we want to give some addition incentive to people this time around. It was all the tremendous feedback and suggestions we got on DW that made it such a success.

This looks very very interesting. Part of the trouble with most current SF d20 games, is they have poor ship design systems. DS is too simple, Traveller d20 is too arcane and only suited for Traveller.

This is a PDF I might actually buy.

Anyway, two comments

a) A ram scoop is not something that you can really just stick onto any sort of spaceship. It has to be a specific sort of ship, and it has to be built around it, and it's pretty much only for interstellar STL travel.

I can't really comment too in depth, since I can't tell much simply from a listing of it on a ship, but it caught my eye as something out of place.

b) I hope there is a version for printers, because while the shading and the blue boxes looks really nice, they're a nightmare on printer ink (for those of us with inkjets).

Disclaimer: I am not a scientist

Hi Jeremy :)

I agree with your assessment that most ship design systems are too simple which is why almost a third of this book is a complete ship design system from soup to nuts.

As to the ram scoop, since no one has ever really built one, Im not sure we can say to any certainty how it would work :)

That said, Blood and Space is designed to be used as a tool kit for every sci fi game that wants to add more depth to its space combat, starship design, starship crews and so forth, so I doubt any game will use ALL of it, so, if in your vision of the future a Ram Scoop could only be put on a ship when its built, that's easily added to the system (there are already systems in the game, such as Aerodynamic Design), that a starship can only have "installed" when it is built, not later.

As to question B, I do believe we are adding a printer-friendly version, but not 100% sure, PosterBoy is the one to comment on that.

I really hope you enjoy the book :)

This was the main motivation to this project. My gaming group plays Dragonstar, Farscape, and some Star Wars on occasion. Neither of this games has a very compressive system for starships (I only have the first SW so they could have added more stuff I'm unaware of). While it can certainly be used on its own, the goal was to provided a more detailed system for starship construction, combat, and adventuring as well as related class/feats/skills.

That's not really the way we handled it, but we are always open to suggestions/tweaks (and as I said above, we are going to give away books to those that make good ones). Certainly there will be a wide variety of opinions when it comes to "sci-fi" technologies. :) This book is more of a toolkit. No doubt people will throw out items they disagree with...

For the book, yes, we will have a low res version. But for those sheets, no, not at the moment.
