Blood and Space (Revised)

Normally I have a list if changes, but the first one is always large, so this is not a complete list.

The bulk of the changes are in the classes, skills, and feats section. We made the Star Ship Officer a base class (by far the largest request) and did major tweaks to the Marine base class. This made the Squadron Commander and Marine NCO class unnecessary so they were dropped. A few of the other classes were tweaked and clarified.

We changed the access to the piloting stunts, allowing all characters with the piloting skill to attempt them a –4 unless they have the respective feat.

We added some advanced training feats related to the class changes that allow characters to train crew quicker.

We combined the communication operations and jamming skill, also adding a Jamming that similar to the stunt feats removes a –4 penalty.

We tweaked the cargo space of many of the hulls and the crew minimums and maximums. There’s not a ton of changes in the construction rules, mostly clarifications to questions people asked. Same goes for combat, some clarifications. There were a few terrain rules that somehow got reverted to old versions before release, so those were corrected.

Lastly, typos and other mistakes that were reported (thanks to everyone that did!).

Might be a few more changes. Maybe Charles will pop his head in and fill in the blanks.

Hi all :)

The game is going to the printers now (the Revised version), so you should see it soon (not sure of an exact release date though)

Chris covered most of the changes. Everyone thought Starship officer should be a core class, so we did that.

Once the Officer went to a core class, the Marine NCO and the Squadron Commander didn't make sense as PrCs, so I combined the Starship Officer and the Squadron Commander, and modified the Marine away from a sci-fi version of the Fighter into what amounts to a Core version of the Marine NCO.

I also added Civilian and Corporate ships of larger sizes (thanks for the suggestion TranceJeremy :) ) and brought the Cargo space of the larger vessels more in line with their size.

Basically, the revisions were minor, but allow people faster access to crew command abilities (while still remaining modular), and to better allow folks to play really *BIG* ships.

And don't forget there's Phil's Star Ace game on the way, which will use the Blood and Space combat rules (though it won't have the construction rules), so if you get both games, you'll have a really cool space combat system *and* a really cool setting.

I'm writing the Star Ace ships for Phil right now, and I can tell you this game looks fun and Christopher Shy's art looks *fabulous*.

And just to confirm, is it safe to assume that the revised version will be clearly labeled "Revised" on the cover, or will there be an entirely different cover for Blood & Space Revised?

Im a little confused by this one Ranger :)

If you got the PDF, it will have a version number on the title page so you know you're dealing with the latest (or can at least find out).

The revised version is the ONLY one being printed... so there's no confusion possible there. :)

If I missed your point forgive me... I've been trying to shovel my car out all day lol.

I just notice I didn't put a version number on the title page. Doah!

Anyhow, we will probably do one more revision (just addtional typo corrections), and that will be the one sent to the printer.

Should hit stores in April.
