So, anyone got a review of this one? I'm not real anxious to spend $25 sight unseen, but I've liked the authors' work in the past, so I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand.

What're the selling points for this adventure?
How is the setting?
How strong are the hooks? Weak? Apt? Railroad?
How varied are the encounters?
What are some memorable characters?
How portable is it to an existing campaign?

No one has a review, since it is not done yet. It is still being produced (which is the point of the Open Design projects, the patrons get input into the final product).

As for the setting, it's Wolfgang's setting he uses for all of his Open Design projects (which includes background articles in Kobold Quarterly). It seems pretty standard so far, with some steampunk elements.

I sure would love it if Wolfgang Baur would offer these books as PDFs. I would get a membership and snatch them all up in a second! I have little use (or space) for physical books these days....

When finished they are released to subscribers as PDFs. A print on demand option is then made available via Lulu, for an additional charge to cover print costs, for those who want a dead tree version as well.

Question: If one signs up with basic membership, can they access the old stuff? (Empire of the Ghouls, Arabian Nights, etc)?

Whoah, really?

I didn't see anything about that on the webpage.

I'm really interested in picking up Empire of the Ghouls, and if I can get that as an electronic file, that would be great!

Am I right in my understanding that once I become a member, I will have the option to purchase previous projects as well as the current one?

If I remember correctly, you can buy the previous adventure. So if you sign up for Blood of the Gorgon, you can also buy Arabian Nights.
But better have look at Wolfgang Baurs Webiste and go to th Forum and ask your question.

Well, the description of "The Empire of the Ghouls" states:

"Availability: This project is closed and no longer available to the public, though patrons of the current Open Design project can obtain a copy. To become a member of the current Open Design project, please donate to the Blood of the Gorgon project. Once you become a member, you will have the option to acquire a copy of Empire of the Ghouls. "

Hmmm....

Okay, but why would I want to buy it? With books, I can read the book to see if it fits the campaign. With pdfs, I can read reviews and see if it fits the campaign. Right now, I can do neither of these things. I have to take it on faith and buy these pdfs sight unseen. I like that I get two pdfs for the price of one, but I need to know a little more about it beyond that there's alchemy and some steam punk elements.

Has anyone played these adventures? Run them? What are your experiences with them?

Wolfgang Baur rocks. He has written some really excellent adventures, some of the best in the history of D&D. He has earned a place in my collection simply on the merit of the work he has done in the past. The only reason that I have not yet participated in his projects is because I haven't fully understood how they work and that I haven't had time to fully participate in them. Now that summer is approaching, I'm starting to find the time.
